~ LEAH LAMB ~
"Leah lives in story, it resonates in her being – as a teller, as a writer/thinker, as an activist/world changer, as a contemporary artist rooted in the ancient. She knows the alchemy of myth and the miracle of life, and the tangible magic of language performed."
-Joe Lambert, The Story Center
My first love was theater. Through writing and having a play win a spot in Virginia's Young Writers Playwriting Festival, I had the opportunity to experience that story has the power to unite. A few notables in that arena include studying at the Neighborhood playhouse in NYC and Williamstown Theater Festival, and working off-Broadway.
I went on to produce and perform in, Piecing It Together, a live performance that included over 50 performers exploring American identity during times of military crisis, and in response to minimal youth political engagement, produced ENGAGE, a live performance that was designed to support youth engagement with political life and involved connecting youth to their political leaders.
My second love was the wilderness. While studying wilderness leadership and experiential education at Prescott College I fell in love with the natural world. My studies took me from rafting through the Grand Canyon, to working on the first environmental clean up of Everest, to working as a wilderness guide in Alaska, Utah, and with Outward Bound.
My third love was film. After years of working in theater and witnessing its power to transform and connect, I wanted to explore a medium that would live without my finger on the pulse. Recent works include writing and producing the award winning eco-spot PSA I Did Nothn' and the online series My Planet.
My continual love is social justice and community building. While getting a Masters in Social Work I learned systems thinking and the strengths perspective and these themes run through everything I create. Creating experiences that heal, transform, mobilize and unite motivates me. I've had the honor of working with amazing filmmakers and organizations such as Active Voice to develop and implement social enggagement campaigns that use story as a tool for social change.
My real love is storytelling. Around the fire. On a walk. On the stage. On the screen. In immersive experiences yet to be discovered in Virtual & Augmented Reality platforms. I've been a voice for the environment as a producer and host of the green channel at Current TV, and have written for Fast Company, Vice, Spirituality & Health Magazine, National Geographic News Watch, GOOD, The Huffington Post, and the Discovery Channel’s Planet Green.
My first novel, The Whale Dreamer, is almost ready for you to read, and you can get your very own one of a kind story just for you via Soul Stories, mythic tales that explore how metaphor and symbols inform our lives.
