People and the Planet: Reclaiming the story of how people relate to the planet
Our modern mythology focuses on how people have exploited, pillaged, and polluted our planet.
We are missing the stories about how the planet is healing, satiating, and nourishing people. These in-depth stories the highlight the positive relationships and need to learn from people who are in positive relationship with the planet so we can focus and believe in the possibilities.
People and the Planet tells the stories about the emergence of connection, communication, and healing occurring between people, through stories about healing in the presence of whales, fire ceremonies, and connecting with the spirits of plants to name a few examples. Links soon.
Favorite Moments
This is a pet project inspired by Noah Scalin’s 365 things.
It’s about observation, it’s about gratitude, it’s about a daily practice, it’s about giving myself an excuse to go get a real camera so I can get back to taking decent photos. It’s about taking the time to take in all of the favorite moments.
It’s also about not being a total hypocrite. When people tell me they want to get into blogging I tell them they have to practice. Everyday: write short concise statements worth reading, so that when you need to write a quick short post on deadline you aren’t crippled by fear. If you don’t write a lot, you can’t write a lot. It’s a basic rule of writing physics. So while I sit at my desk writing a long form stories and novels that I don’t share, I figured it would be a good practice to keep the muscles of short form blogging alive so I don’t lose them. #Imakenoclaimthisblogisworthreading.
Scratching The Surface
Oh…this is a random project I pick up and put down at whim, but if you’re into scars and tattoos here ya go. As a kid I grew up asking anyone who would listen to tell me a story. This blog gives me an excuse to keep asking people to tell me stories.
I have scars and tattoos. And each and everyone has a story. It’s fascinating that you can tell both so much and so little by the surface, so this blogs scratches the surface to see what lies beneath. I love digging into things, lifting the rug, and exploring the underbelly of life. I also became fascinated by the simple question, “Is there a connection between the the desire to tattoo and scar the body and the way we are scarring and tattooing the planet?”
Plus: it’s just a fun way to meet people, “Hey, I have a blog on scars and tattoos, want to tell me your story?”
Medicine Stories
Stories define our interpretation of the world. We carry stories, hide them, gift them, protect them, and sometimes…we invent them. So why not create a personalized story that is infused with the intention to heal? Someday I’ll post a few here. When the time is right.
